Great Sandy Desert After seven long years Spider & Dolly Snell, Tommy May, their families and those connected to the special site of Kurtal in the Great Sandy Desert returned to the site, some for the first time and some to say farewell to their country for the last time. Thanks to some very generous friends of Mangkaja we flew Dolly, Spider and their grandson’s Japeth and Mukaya in a helicopter to meet a convoy of seven troopies. The trip included filmmakers, Ngurrara rangers, Central Desert Native Title Anthropologists and lawyers alongside the traditional owners, artists and Mangkaja staff. It was a successful trip, thanks to all involved. There will be many events to come from this major bush trip including the solo exhibition of Dolly Snell.
